For those who couldn’t join us, here is some further information about babyClear.
What is babyClear?
babyClear is a programme to protect unborn babies from the harm caused by smoking and reduce rates of smoking during pregnancy and is currently in place across the Bradford District.
babyClear aims to reduce premature births, stillbirths, miscarriages and complications after labour due to smoking.
It ensures every woman is given information from a midwife about the harmful effects of smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke during pregnancy. All pregnant women are screened for carbon monoxide (CO) and given information about the harmful effects of exposure to CO with support to quit provided for pregnant women and their partners.
The introduction of babyClear is part of the Every Baby Matters Action plan which aims to cut the infant mortality rates in the district and improve the start to life for our young children.
